Mazda announced today that it will be donating $2,751,700 dollars to select charitable organizations from the Mazda Drive for Good campaign this year. In addition to the monetary donations Mazda will be handing out, Mazda employees and dealerships across the US also will also volunteer a total of 56,435 hours in 2014 because of the Mazda Drive for Good campaign.
Mazda’s Drive for Good campaign ran from November 25, 2013 through January 2, 2014. For each new Mazda vehicle someone bought during this time frame Mazda donated $100 to one of four national or 32 local charities across the country. The choice of where the $100 donation by Mazda was up to the Mazda customers. Some customer who have not decided about where the charitable donation will go have until the end of the month (January 31, 2014) to make a decision.
In addition to the money Mazda matched an hour of charitable service for every test drive of a new Mazda vehicle taken during the Mazda Drive for Good event. That equaled over 56,000+ hours which shows you many test drives people take at dealerships.
“Giving back to our communities is a part of who we are,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North America. “And because real charity is more than just giving money, Drive for Good also allowed every Mazda associate to donate their time to help too.”
Mazda will donated money among St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and the Mazda Foundation in addition to these local charities.
