The Nissan Foundation is now accepting Letters of Intent for its 2019 grant cycle. Annually, the Nissan Foundation awards grants to nonprofits who serve communities surrounding Nissan’s affiliate locations in Southern California, Middle Tennessee, Central Mississippi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, New York and Atlanta.
“The Nissan Foundation is proud to support organizations that make a real difference within their communities by building respect and greater understanding among people,” said Vicki Smith, executive director, Nissan Foundation. “We are looking for applicants who are active and committed to a world where racial, ethnic and cultural diversity are genuinely valued.”
The mission of the Nissan Foundation – to build community by valuing cultural diversity – is as relevant now as it was in 1992, when it was founded. The Foundation was established in response to the civil unrest that occurred near Nissan’s then U.S. sales and marketing headquarters in Southern California following the Rodney King trial verdict.
In its 26-year history, the Nissan Foundation has awarded almost $11 million to more than 120 nonprofit organizations celebrating cultural diversity through arts, education, and social and public programs.
How to apply
The Nissan Foundation application process is conducted online to eliminate paper waste and align with Nissan’s global mission to support a greener environment. All Letters of Intent must be received by 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST on Friday, Nov. 16. Nissan Foundation will announce the 2019 grantees in June 2019.
