Top 10 Best Selling Cars in Australia Right Now

The Australian car market has had quite the year seeing record highs in total numbers of cars sold. But what cars stack up to be the Aussie’s favourites? Here are the top 10 best-selling cars in Australia right now (based on May 2018 sales data).

Toyota HiLux

It should come as little surprise that Australia’s top selling car right now is a ute. With 4,385 Toyota Hilux’s sold in Australia it takes our number 1 spot. It includes Vehicle Stability Control for grip while driving and is quiet on road with impressive ride quality.

Ford Ranger

What do we have here? Yep, it’s another ute. Aussie’s can’t get enough of them. With 3,674 Ford Ranger’s sold in May of this year, it’s only a little behind the number one spot. Though I don’t think the Toyota Hilux will be outdone any time soon. The Ranger is renowned for its space and comfort. It also has professional 4×4 capabilities including water wading.

Toyota Corolla

The humble Toyota Corolla takes the number 3 spot with 3,120 sales. It’s just over 500 sales in the month of May behind the Ford Ranger in second place so there’s a sure chance it may take over next month. Corollas are cheap to buy and cheap to run with low running and maintenance costs so it’s no wonder Aussie’s love them.

Hyundai i30

In fourth place is the Hyundai i30 with 2,779 sales in May. Another small car on the list but it’s still behind the Toyota Corolla this month in terms of sales. The Hyundai i30 is tech savvy with wireless charging and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Mazda3

The Mazda3 is only just behind the Hyundai i30 when it comes to sales. With 2,586 Mazda3’s sold in May, it has just under 200 sales to go before reaching fourth position. The Mazda3 is a small car with a lot of storage space. The steering wheel has been redesigned with control buttons to improve the driving experience.

Mazda CX-5

Mazda’s are super popular in Australia and take out the 5th and 6th spots in terms of best-selling cars for the month. 2,382 Mazda CX5’s sold in May and it’s not hard to see why with ample storage space for a small car like its cousin the Mazda3.
