“As far as special edition Mustangs go, this one is out of this world,” starts the press release for the Apollo Edition Mustang built specifically for auction to benefit youth aviation programs like the Young Eagles. The Ford Mustang Apollo Edition features paint, bodywork, seat stitching, and more unique to this one car. It will be sold at auction on July 23 to benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth education programs.
This is the eighth year in a row that Ford has supported the EAA with auction donations. This special one-off edition of the Mustang is sure to bring big bids too.
The 2015 Ford Mustang GT features a 5.0-liter V8 and was designed by a team headed by Ford Design Manager Melvin Betancourt. A one-of-a-kind glossy pure white paint, meant to mimic the Apollo spacecraft look, was formulated for the car. A modified carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, rocker moldings and accent treatments were then added. Unique LED underbody lighting creates a “re-entry” effect. Of course, this ‘Stang also includes the Ford Performance package suite of awesomeness (supercharger, X-pipe exhaust, Brembo brakes..). Extensive interior details finish off the look.
