Volkswagen Introduces Golf Sportwagen, Available This Year

Volkswagen is replacing the Jetta Sportwagen with a Golf Sportwagen. The Golf-based station wagon will offer most of the same things the Jetta wagon had, including both a gasoline and diesel option and a low price of entry. The base price for the clean diesel drops by nearly $2,000 from the Jetta is replacing and the gasoline drops the price by almost $700.

Pricing starts at $21,395 for the base model. A five-speed manual and six-speed automatic are offered for the gasoline and a six-speed manual or automatic is offered for the diesel. Fuel economy is 36 mpg highway for the gasoline and 43 mpg for the diesel (best EPA numbers, both with manual transmission).
