Lexus has unveiled its latest sports car, this one a four-door called the GS F, slated for showrooms as a 2016 model. This performance sedan promises premium sports car performance and handling in a sedan build. It officially unveils at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit next week, where we’ll see it live and in person.
The GS F joins the Lexus F-series lineup of sports editions and shares a platform with the GS 350 F-Sport. The primary differences between the GS 350 and the GS F will be in sport tuning, including engine upgrades. A 5.0-liter V8 will rumble under the GS F’s hood, producing 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque. RPM rates are high for this engine, with the peak HP coming at 7,100 and peak torque at 4,800+. It’s a dual-cycle engine using both Otto and Atkinson combustion to maximize power and efficiency in various scenarios. The engine powers through an eight-speed sport-tuned transmission with manual shift options.
The rear wheels are powered through the same Torque Vectoring Differential found on the RC F with three operating modes to optimize performance for drive-specific situations.
