The 2024 GMC Acadia marks the third generation for the middle-sized SUV. The Acadia is a three-row sport utility that shares a platform and parts with the Chevrolet Traverse and the Buick Enclave. That’s right. This new Acadia is back to its right-size when compared to the diminutive version it was before.
The Acadia’s redesign also brings a bunch of changes under the hood and inside the passenger compartment. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine is now the norm and the interior is far more user friendly and ergonomic for passenger hauling.
Downsides are that this new, larger Acadia is now more expensive and fuel economy, while improved, is still pretty middling.
The Acadia is now powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission defaults to front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive available on every trim.
We found this new Acadia to be a great drive most of the time. It’s family-friendly, easy to maneuver, and has enough get-up to go as needed without feeling overpowered or under performing. It’s balanced and that’s what buyers in this midsize SUV segment are after.
The 2024 Acadia has a starting price of about $44,000, plus delivery. The base Elevation trim comes pretty well-stocked with a long list of advanced safety equipment and driver’s aids. Including 20-inch wheels, remote start, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen, tri-zone climate, WiFi hotspot enabled, adaptive cruise control, and more. That’s a pretty great list for a mid-priced SUV with a fair amount of luxury trimming. The higher price tag compared to last year is a product of both the Acadia’s larger size and its higher number of standard features.
The 2024 GMC Acadia in its AT4 trim level adds off-road goodies. Including all-terrain tires (on smaller 18-inch wheels), heavy-duty engine cooling, standard AWD, off-road tuning for the suspension, a front skid plate, and a trailering package.
The top-end Denali version of the new Acadia is, you guessed it, the high-end luxury option for this GMC. It adds leather upholstery, ventilated front seating, heated second-row captain’s chairs, power-folding to the third row, a head-up display, and trailering package. Some of this added luxury can be put into the other packages for the Acadia with options.
