This weekend, fellow journalist Tim Esterdahl and I attended the annual Father’s Day Classic in Gering, Nebraska, one of the region’s largest classic car shows. There were over 300 entries this year, ranging from as-found antiques to fully restored classics, street rods, modified classics, and more. Tim and I had a lot of fun and saw some great vehicles and met great people at the event.

Tim’s father-in-law was there, as was Tim’s oldest son. The show takes place on a nice, grassy lawn overlooking Gering and Scottsbluff, Nebraska with the short mountains behind and the large sugar silos on the far side of the valley. It was a nice, sunny day with a good turnout for the show.

I created a video of the photos I’ve selected from the couple of hundred I took through the day. They are arranged in chronological order, oldest to newest, starting with a funny street rod based on a 1923 T-Bucket with Chevrolet emblems all over it. Since my thing is truly antique and as-intended or fully-restored to original cars, most of the vehicles you’ll see here are unmodified originals or restorations. Check out the work-in-progress 1928 Ford, the pair of 1966-67 Chargers with original paint, and the awesome woody wagon found in a barn with only the tires, wood, and some engine parts being added since its find. How many classics can you name from this collage?
