Following an exceptionally successful inaugural auction last year, Mecum Auctions will return to the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 15-17 with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more to cross the auction block.
Among the main attractions consigned to date for Mecum Las Vegas 2018 are the 50 blue-chip, investment-grade prewar luxury touring vehicles from The Academy of Art University Collection. Included in the collection are two Talbot-Lagos—a 1938 T120 Roadster (Lot S105) and a 1939 T150-C Coupe (Lot S107)—several Packards, including a 1934 1108 V-12 Sport Phaeton (Lot S125) and a 1934 1104 Super 8 Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton (Lot S125.1), a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton (Lot S130.1), a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Faux Cabriolet (Lot S98), a 1935 Pierce-Arrow Model 1245 Silver Arrow (Lot S93.1), as well as many others from Auburn, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and more.
The Ardell Brown Estate Collection encompasses nearly 140 lots all to be offered at no reserve. The collection includes a lilac 1930 Cord L-29 Cabriolet (Lot S72) with a professional nut-and-bolt restoration performed by one of the best restorers in America, Lon Kruger of Scottsdale, Arizona; a 1968 Shelby GT500KR Convertible (Lot S71) that is one of 518 GT500KR Convertibles produced and one of just 43 with a Special Yellow exterior; and a 1955 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible (Lot S74) that is one of 3,950 produced in 1955, to name a few.
A contrast from and complement to the historic consignments from The Academy of Art University Collection and the Ardell Brown Estate Collection is a 2012 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport 16.4 (Lot S96) that sports Chassis No. 45 and was a 2011 Frankfort Motor Show car.
“Our first-ever collector-car auction in Las Vegas last year established an extremely high standard for quality consignments and strong sales,” Mecum Vice President of Marketing and Presentation Sam Murtaugh said. “Frank Mecum and the consignment team have consigned remarkable collections for this year’s auction including the Academy of Art University Collection and the Ardell Brown Estate, plus other smaller collections and individual consignments from more than 30 states that are sure to result in eager bidding and further strengthen Mecum’s brand presence in Las Vegas and the Southwest.”
