The Green Car Journal has named the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel as the 2015 Green Truck of the Year. Supposedly there was competition for this title. There were even five finalists. We suspect that they were just a formality so that everyone who makes a pickup truck could be included. You know, in the interest of fairness and whatever.
Unlike T-ball where everyone’s a winner, though, the GCJ had to choose somebody. They pretended to deliberate long enough to make everyone feel included and then made the obvious announcement.
“The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel exemplifies what a ‘green’ truck should be,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of the Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. “It’s a heavy-hitter that pulls off exceptional fuel economy with its impressive EcoDiesel engine and array of efficiency features like active grill shutters and aero suspension. Pickup buyers get the best of all worlds with the beefy torque and environmental performance offered by this full-size and stylish pickup.”
So there you go. Greenest truck chosen. The hilarious bit here is that the second-most fuel-efficient truck on the market is the Ram 1500 V6 at 25 mpg. Now, by show of hands, I want every pickup truck owner that actually worries about fuel economy to be noted. Everyone who just raised their hands: you should’ve bought a car.
