A ten-minute video of the Corvette C7 Stingray doing a lap on the Nurburgring is a first look at the new ‘Vette on the fabled European raceway. Chevrolet hasn’t released telemetry or lap time information yet, likely waiting for a best run for publicity, but this shows you how well the new Corvette could be doing. I say “could be” because the driver here is obviously not pushing the Stingray’s limits or even coming close to pressing for a top time run. This seems like a practice run to get the feel of the car and maybe the track.
The Nurburgring Nordshleife is about thirteen miles long and has 160 turns. The current top three production car records are held by the Nissan GT-R NISMO, Porsche 918 Spyder, and the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. Currently, the fastest Corvette time around the Nurburgring is the C6 ZR1 at 7:19.63 three years ago. It’s likely that the C7 will beat that and it may also demolish the Viper’s record (7:12.13) as well.
