There are two ways you can get your hands on a Tesla Model S. You can either pick it up at one of the Tesla Motors locations, or you can have it delivered. Either way, you won’t be disappointed. What it entails is something you will never witness anywhere else. Getting the keys to a Model S is closer to a ceremony than simply picking up a mere car.
A year ago, a friend of mine invited me to come along and drive him to his Model S. The walk through was an experience unto itself. I thought it would be a half hour deal, but turned out to be closer to two hours. Tesla produced some excellent espressos, which in hindsight made sense, considering the amount of time it took getting familiar with this unusual car.
It started with the paperwork. Nothing too terribly exciting here. The fun part was the walk around and familiarizing yourself with it. A good hour and a half was spent sitting inside, walking around, as well as trying on every bit and pieces of technology on this rolling computer platform. Opening the doors. Closing the doors. Open the door handles, then opening the doors. Retracting the door handle, then closing them, etc. It was extensive and covered just about anything you might need.
I walked away feeling dizzy. What I thought would be an easy signing of the paper and a quick walk through, turned out to be a compete ownership experience.
