We recently rounded up and talked about CarNewsCafe’s Top 10 Articles in 2013 according to traffic. However, we did not discuss our personal favorite articles over the past year. Sometimes what we like to write about unfortunately doesn’t always bring in traffic we think it should.
So I thought it would be fun to showcase all of my favorite articles from 2013. I should clarify that all of these are articles I have written. While Aaron Turpen and Nicolas Zart wrote some great pieces for this auto magazine over the past year, we all know who the best writer here is. Anyway, here are my favorite articles of 2013.
Police in Dubai fight crime with Lamborghini Aventador supercar
In Dubai it seems everything is lot flashier, bigger, and more expensive and the police are no exception to this. While the Dubai police department sports an impressive array of cars to fight crime, the most impressive car they own is a Lamborghini Aventador. I bet you want to join the Dubai police department, right?
Grand Theft Auto 5 released
This was a fun news editorial about Grand Theft Auto 5 getting released. It seemed like the whole world knew about this video game and the automotive press was going crazy about it. I imagine world productivity slowed down for the 2 weeks after Grand Theft Auto 5 was released.
Ever Dream of being Batman? Buy this Batmobile!
You can be Batman if you buy this Batmobile replica. Yes, even though this was about a Batmobile replica going to auction I still thought it was a cool story. What kid doesn’t want to be a superhero?
Subaru confirms slick 2015 Subaru BRZ convertible
This was an April Fool’s joke but I liked writing it as I made it seem like a real article. This also made our Top 10 Articles list and according to traffic it is the 3rd most popular article on CarNewsCafe. I think this shows that the public wants a Subaru BRZ convertible even if Subaru is hesitant to make one. We want a Subaru BRZ convertible, please make one Subaru!
Hello Kitty goes to Space
Not auto related but still a fun story. It was about a girl that sent an Hello Kitty doll into space for a science project she did with her farther. They recorded the whole thing using a GoPro camera and posted in on Youtube.
Top Gear’s Richard Hammond gives a Dying Girl her Lamborghini Wish [VIDEO]
Richard Hammond, who is one of the co-hosts of Top Gear, gave a girl her dying wish courtesy of Rays of Sunshine. (UK equivalent of Make a Wish foundation.) Her wish was to spend time with Richard Hammond in Lamborghini. So they got a Lamborghini Aventador painted in pink and Hammond spent what seems to be a good half day driving Emilia, the girl, around.
Jean Claude Van Damme does a Split between moving Trucks [VIDEO]
I liked this video that Volvo Trucks put out of Jean Claude Van Damme doing a split between trucks so I posted it when it only had 80,000 views. Then every other major news outlets and automotive magazine posted the video. It now has 65+ million Youtube views and courting. Unfortunately the Google Gods didn’t reward us with great traffic, but I guess people still likes 80’s martial arts action stars, like Jean Claude Van Damme.
Russian Ice Skaters gracefully Dance with Mitsubishi Outlanders [VIDEO]
These was the coolest video I posted on CarNewsCafe all year. It it what we believe to be a commercial for the Mitsubishi Outlander in Russia. It shows 2 ice skaters dancing with 2 Mitsubishi Outlanders mimicking the ice skating moves which must take a lot of skill on ice for the drivers. Then they ice skaters and SUVs to some moves together.
There were a lot cool, fun, and interesting videos but this was so creative and cool we all liked it. Even if the music was a bit lame.
