Mazda Canada will not be launching the new-generation Mazda2 that’s rolling out globally. This marks the end of the subcompact 2 in the Canadian market. It was discontinued in the U.S. previously, though it is now being sold as a Scion-branded car in its sedan format.
The subcompact segment has lost considerable market share this past year and Mazda has determined that buyers are preferring crossovers, including compact crossovers like the new CX-3. That segment is the fastest-growing in Canada.
