Ford Motor Company Fund has donated five Ford Transit vans to the American Red Cross, continuing a three decade’s long partnership. These Ford Transit high-roof vans are from the Ford commercial line. Powered by the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that is the most popular engine option for the F-150 pickup truck, the vans were shipped to Red Cross locations in Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, and Oregon.
“The American Red Cross is often first on the scene to assist those in need, and these Ford Transit vehicles play an important role in helping them deliver food, water and medical supplies as quickly as possible,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “People count on the Red Cross when disaster strikes and the Red Cross knows it can count on Ford.”
The Ford Motor Company Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company. In the last five years, more than $5 million in donations to the Red Cross alone have been made through the foundation. The fund has also awarded more than 400 scholarships to veterans and their families, funded youth emergency preparedness programs, and hosted blood drives.
