One of only three right-hand drive automatic 1954 Bentley R Type Continental Fastback cars is going to be under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions next month. The rare Bentley will be headlining the final sale of the year during the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show on November 15-16.
Valued at between £800,000 and £900,000 ($1.29M-$1.45M USD), the 1954 Bentley R Type is in impeccable, close to consours condition. The car features electric window lifts, a flat fuel tank, Smiths ventilation and heating and two RD 8187 fog lamps.
The car’s chassis was built at Rolls-Royce in Crewe and the coach, made of lightweight aluminum, was made at H.J. Mulliner. The car has been repainted in original Shell Grey and the interior re-done in mid-blue hide and dark blue Wilton carpet.
