There are more ChargePoint chargers than McDonald’s

ChargePointYou know the tipping point is here when you see there are more chargers than popular restaurants and shopping outlets. ChargePoint has more public chargers installed then there are restaurants and shopping outlets, even McDonald’s. What does this mean?

The chicken and the egg that befuddled an incredulous industry of experts about what needed to happen first, the electric vehicle (EV) or its charging network resolved itself in an organic way. Both happened about at the same time and bigger cities now have enough to accommodate most EVs. Today, the number of chargers are climbing at a higher pace than EVs sold, thankfully. There are less McDonald’s than chargers, and we can only celebrate this, for many reasons.

ChargePoint reports it has more chargers than popular restaurants and outlets.

Press Release:

Largest EV charging network offers more places to charge in North America than the number of McDonald’s restaurants

Campbell, Calif.– ChargePoint’s number one priority is to continue building a robust network of electric vehicle (EV) charging to meet the growing demand by drivers. To help demonstrate how expansive the network is, ChargePoint is putting its charging locations into context.

“When people realize how many places there are to charge an EV, they’re more likely to consider one for their next vehicle,” said Pasquale Romano, ChargePoint CEO. “With the ability to charge at home, work and throughout your day while you shop, eat and play, owning an EV is easier than ever. Not only does ChargePoint alone have more locations than many popular retailers and restaurants, you might be surprised to find charging stations at many stores you often visit.”

With 18,000 charging locations across U.S. and Canada, ChargePoint has more spots than the number of:

· Starbucks: 14,958*

· McDonald’s: 13,890**

· 7-Eleven: 8,160**

· Dunkin’ Donuts: 7,681**

· Walmart: 5,256***
