BMW 328d debuts at NYIAS

The New York International Auto Show has been a showcase of automotive this year and is one of the nation’s premier automotive shows.  As a late entry into the debut lineup, the new 2014 BMW 328d released over the weekend.  The 328d Sedan is the beginning of a new wave of diesel-powered models that Beamer plans to begin rolling onto American shores.

The BMW 328d Sedan features BMW’s 2.0-liter TwinPower diesel 4-cylinder engine in their current-generation Advanced Diesel power plants.  At 180 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, this engine is nothing to ignore and coupled to an advanced 8-speed transmission, it makes one of the most efficient powertrains available today.

The EPA has not yet evaluated the BMW 328d, but BMW expects the car to receive a 45 mpg highway rating and 32 mpg city efficiency in its rear-wheel drive configuration and slightly less in its xDrive all-wheel drive option.  BMW also plans to offer a Sports Wagon version in xDrive only for added versatility.

True clean diesels, these 37 mpg (combined estimate) sedans will be hard to ignore and will be part of BMW’s 3-series vehicles.  They will come in four trim packages to include Luxury, Sport, Modern Lines and M Sport.

The cars will enter showrooms in the fall of this year.  Pricing for the 2014 BMW 328d has not yet been announced.
