Nissan and Gibson make mobile guitar restoration van

Nissan and Gibson Guitars have come together to create a mobile guitar repair and restoration workshop using a Nissan NV200 commercial van.  The Gibson NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration Van debuted at the New York Auto Show.  Read on to find out about this beautiful custom van, its abilities as a mobile workshop, and for video showcasing the making of this great ride.

Gibson is known for three things: beautiful workmanship, its dedicated Repair and Restoration Shop in Nashville, and its flaming maple wood on black colors.  Nissan is known for building quality vehicles in Tennessee and innovative collaboration to achieve goals for consumers and the automotive industry.  Together, both being in Tennessee, it would seem a no-brainer for them to make something great.

The Gibson NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration Van is a custom Nissan NV200 commercial van wrapped in Gibson’s logo works.  The signature Gibson name is all around the van, from the black hood to the flaming maple side wraps to the custom leather seating.  Gibson Pro Audio adorns the interior as does maple wood paneling.

Other customizations include a sliding instrument repair table/workbench that slides out from the interior through the rear doors where it can be propped from the tail of the NV200 or removed entirely to act as a rolling workspace at a repair site backstage or on location.  The small-sized commercial van allows for the maneuverability to get it to those locations easily.

The interior workspace is also customized with tool storage, working stools, guitar racks to securely hold instruments in transit, spare parts and accessories, and a lot more.  Repair technicians can work on restorations or repairs from the van while listening to the premium audio system Gibson’s Onkyo installed, which includes retractable, pull-out speakers.

“Gibson and Nissan are both Tennessee-based companies that build products worthy of consumer passion yet suitable for everyday use,” said Joe Castelli, VP Commercial Vehicles and Fleet at Nissan North America. “We’ve sought a way to combine forces for many years now, and the introduction of the 2013 NV200 Compact Cargo van gives us the perfect opportunity to do so. Working with Gibson has been a dream come true for many of us here at Nissan, and we look forward to the next steps collaborating with them.”

The van debuted today at the New York International Auto Show and will begin service after its showcase there.
